Put it to use...
There
are times when everybody'll want you and times that nobody'll need
you. Nonetheless, you're here to stay. You, unlike the denizens of
the tourism industry, have got a real,
financial-bricks-and-mortar commitment to the area and its economic
development. And in this day of no-commitment, that really means
something.
So,
get involved in political issues of every sort that will foster
local economic development. Become a little of a local political
personality.
Write
to the local press about issues that you take seriously. Join
pressure-groups, the local tourist board, form a local committee,
get involved at any level in local economic and security projects
from business visits to Neighbourhood Watch to the local
green group. Speak to the Rotary and the Round Table and the rest
about managing and marketing accommodation.
And,
don't forget your business card!
